(Refurbished) ASUS ROG Strix G16 – Ryzen 9 8940HX, RTX 5050 8GB, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 165Hz | Excellent Condition

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025), model G614PH, is a 16-inch gaming laptop that pairs a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU and 8GB of GDDR7 memory. Launched in India in June 2025, it suits high-refresh gamers, engineering and design students, and streamers who game, record and edit on one machine.

This unit has 16GB DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD and is graded Excellent: fully functional, with only minor signs of earlier use. This refurbished ASUS ROG Strix G16 from Mobivault is fully tested and comes with a 1-year seller warranty from Mobivault, free delivery across India and Cash on Delivery.

Key highlights

• AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX: 16 cores, 32 threads, up to 5.3GHz, 80MB total cache
• RTX 5050 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR7 and DLSS 4
• MUX Switch with Advanced Optimus and G-SYNC
• 16-inch FHD+ 16:10 display: 165Hz, 3ms, 100% sRGB, anti-glare
• 16GB DDR5 (up to 64GB) and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD with a spare M.2 slot
• Two USB4 40Gbps ports, HDMI 2.1 and RJ45 LAN
• Wi-Fi 6E, 1080p webcam and Dolby Atmos speakers
• 90Wh battery and an RGB keyboard with a Copilot key

Design and cooling: a desk-first 16-inch machine

At 35.4 x 26.4 cm, 2.26–3.04 cm thick and 2.50 kg, the Strix G16 will travel to college or a LAN session in a 16-inch backpack, but it is not built for all-day carrying on a crowded metro. Pixel-art accents, a dot-matrix lid pattern and an Aura Sync light bar give it character.

The RGB backlit keyboard adds a Copilot key and hotkeys for volume, mic mute and Armoury Crate. A dust filter guards the intake vents, and 0dB Ambient Cooling lets the fans stop in Silent mode during light work. Under heavy gaming the fans are audible; in an Indian summer, use it on a hard surface with the vents clear.

The 165Hz FHD+ display

The 16-inch IPS-level panel shows 1920 x 1200 pixels in a 16:10 shape, giving more vertical room for documents, code and editing timelines. At 165Hz with a 3ms response time, shooters and racing games look fluid, and G-SYNC prevents tearing when frame rates vary.

The anti-glare finish cuts reflections from tube lights and windows, and 100% sRGB suits web content, thumbnails and social media photos. It is not a wide-gamut panel, so use a calibrated external monitor for print or film colour work.

Performance: Ryzen 9 8940HX and RTX 5050

The processor

The Ryzen 9 8940HX is a Zen 4 chip with 16 cores and 32 threads, a 2.4GHz base clock, up to 5.3GHz boost and 80MB of cache. That core count shortens video exports and code compiles, keeps Android emulators and virtual machines responsive, and leaves headroom to stream while you play. It has no NPU, so this is not a Copilot+ PC.

The graphics

The RTX 5050 Laptop GPU is the entry-level model in NVIDIA’s Blackwell-based RTX 50 laptop line-up, with 2,560 CUDA cores, 8GB of GDDR7 and 440 AI TOPS, per NVIDIA. DLSS 4 lifts frame rates in supported games. Esports titles run at high refresh rates, while newer AAA games are best at sensible settings with DLSS on; results depend on the game and power mode. CUDA also speeds up Blender, DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro.

A MUX Switch lets the RTX GPU drive the screen directly for extra gaming performance, while Advanced Optimus hands light work to the integrated Radeon 610M to save battery.

Memory and storage

The 16GB of DDR5 runs at 5200MHz. Two SO-DIMM slots support up to 64GB, and the 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD sits beside a second M.2 slot. Issues after unauthorised repair or opening are not covered by our warranty, so email us before planning an upgrade.

Battery, charging and power cuts

The 90Wh battery is large for a gaming laptop. ASUS quotes up to 8.5 hours of video playback for the Strix G16 range; real use varies. On battery, light tasks such as notes, browsing and video calls can carry on through a short power cut, but plug in for full gaming performance.

ASUS rates its 280W adapter at 0–50% in about 30 minutes, so times with the included compatible charger may differ. One USB4 port also accepts USB-C charging at up to 100W for topping up on the move.

Connectivity, calls and Windows

Two USB4 Type-C ports (40Gbps) carry DisplayPort and G-SYNC, alongside two 10Gbps USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 for a TV or monitor, RJ45 LAN for stable wired gaming and a 3.5mm jack. Triple-band Wi-Fi 6E (2×2) handles large game downloads, and Bluetooth 5.2 pairs headsets and controllers.

For online classes and interviews, the 1080p webcam and AI noise-cancelling microphone keep you clear, and two speakers with Smart Amp and Dolby Atmos handle films and games. There is no fingerprint reader, face unlock, touchscreen or SIM slot. It runs Windows 11 Home, with Armoury Crate for performance modes, macros and lighting.
