Glyph lights, glass and IP64: the design up close

The Phone (3a) has a Panda Glass front and a glass back, measuring 163.52 x 77.50 x 8.35 mm and weighing a little over 200 g. The White finish keeps this large phone bright and understated.

On the back, the Glyph Interface uses three light strips around the camera. Give important contacts their own light pattern, leave the phone face-down in a meeting or lecture, and you will know at a glance whether a call matters. The lights also show volume, timers and music.

IP64 means protection against dust and water splashes, helpful in light rain on a two-wheeler ride. It is not designed for submersion or swimming.

A 6.77-inch 120Hz AMOLED that stays readable outdoors

The flexible AMOLED panel runs at 1080 x 2392 (about 387 ppi) with 10-bit colour and HDR10+, so HDR streaming looks rich and detailed. The adaptive refresh rate climbs to 120Hz for fluid scrolling and drops on static screens to save battery, and 1000Hz touch sampling keeps taps responsive in games.

Brightness is rated at 800 nits typical, 1300 nits outdoors and 3000 nits peak. The outdoor figure is what counts when checking a map at noon. For late-night reading, 2160Hz PWM dimming makes flicker less noticeable at low brightness.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3: everyday speed for college, office and gaming

The 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 has eight cores reaching 2.5GHz and an Adreno 810 GPU. With 8GB of RAM it moves easily between video calls, maps, messaging, social apps and office documents. Casual gaming is comfortable; demanding titles suit balanced graphics settings.

Storage is 128GB of UFS 2.2 with no microSD slot, so heavy 4K shooters should plan on cloud backup.

A triple camera with a real 2x telephoto

The 50MP main camera has a large 1/1.57-inch sensor, an f/1.88 aperture and optical image stabilisation for steadier low-light shots and smoother handheld video. TrueLens Engine 3 and Ultra XDR merge several RAW frames for balanced skies and shadows.

The 50MP telephoto offers 2x optical zoom, 4x in-sensor zoom and up to 30x digital Ultra Zoom, ideal for portraits, stage shows and street details; portrait mode has four focal lengths. The 8MP ultra-wide captures a 120° view for group photos and travel, and is at its best in good light. A 32MP selfie camera keeps video calls sharp, and the rear camera records 4K at 30fps with OIS and EIS.

5000mAh battery and 50W charging

The 5000mAh battery is sized for a full day of mixed use. With a compatible 50W charger, Nothing’s lab figures show 0–50% in 19 minutes and full in 56 minutes, handy before a commute or a power cut. No wall charger is included, but any standard USB-C adapter you already own will charge it; lower-wattage adapters simply take longer. 7.5W reverse wired charging can top up earbuds over a cable. There is no wireless charging.

Nothing OS, the Essential Key and update support

The Phone (3a) launched with Nothing OS 3.1 on Android 15 and is eligible for Android 16 (Nothing OS 4.0), so your unit may arrive on a newer version. Nothing promises three Android updates and six years of security patches from first sale in March 2025, meaning security support into 2031.

The side-mounted Essential Key saves whatever is on screen to Essential Space with a press, or records a voice note with a long press. Nothing’s AI then organises these into summaries and to-dos, useful for tickets and lecture reminders.
