Slim metal design that travels well

The back is a metal unibody with a frosted finish that resists smudges, and the tablet measures just 7.36mm thick and weighs 519g. It slips easily into a college backpack or office bag.

IP52 means it is protected against dust and light splashes, such as a few drops of rain on the walk home. It is not waterproof. Security is by camera-based Face Unlock; there is no fingerprint sensor.

The 11-inch 2.5K display: sharp, smooth and easy on the eyes

At 2560 x 1600 and 274 ppi, text in e-books, PDFs and class notes looks crisp, and the 16:10 shape suits widescreen video and two apps side by side. The refresh rate adapts up to 90Hz in supported apps, so scrolling feels fluid.

The IPS panel shows 10-bit colour with a 1500:1 contrast ratio. Brightness is 500 nits typical and 600 nits in Outdoor Mode, fine indoors and beside a window; independent reviewers found the glass fairly reflective, so direct midday sun is a stretch. For long study evenings it carries TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Flicker Free and Circadian Friendly certification, plus DC dimming and Reading mode. Widevine L1 lets supported OTT apps stream in HD.

Everyday performance with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage

The 6nm MediaTek Helio G100-Ultra pairs two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2GHz with six efficiency cores and Mali-G57 MC2 graphics. It handles browsing, online classes, documents, split-screen multitasking, streaming and casual games smoothly. It is a mid-range chip, so demanding 3D games will not run at their highest settings. In GSMArena’s stress test it held 85% of its peak performance without overheating.

8GB of LPDDR4X RAM (extendable with up to 8GB of virtual RAM) keeps several apps open at once, and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage leaves room for downloaded lectures, offline shows and photos. A microSD card of up to 2TB adds more; on this model the tray is shared between the SIMs and the card.

Pen, cameras and sound for study, work and calls

With the Redmi Smart Pen (sold separately), the Pad 2 becomes a digital notebook: 4096 pressure levels, millisecond-level latency and 240Hz pen sampling for handwritten notes, annotated PDFs and sketches in Mi Canvas. The pen charges over USB-C and does not attach magnetically, so keep it in a pouch. Other active styluses are not guaranteed to work.

The 5MP front camera records 1080p video for classes, interviews and family calls, and the 8MP rear camera has a Document mode for scanning notes and forms. Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos fill a room for films, while the 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth 5.3 with LDAC cover wired and wireless listening.

9000mAh battery, 4G and HyperOS 2

Xiaomi rates the battery at up to 17 hours of video playback in its own lab tests, and GSMArena recorded an Active Use Score of 11 hours 9 minutes. That is a full day of classes or a long train journey, and a useful reserve during power cuts. It supports 18W charging over USB-C (PD 2.0 or QC 2.0); independent testing measured about three hours to full, so overnight charging suits it best. There is no wireless charging.

The dual nano-SIM slot supports 4G LTE on the main Indian bands, with no 5G. Built-in GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS turn it into a large map screen on road trips, alongside dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and USB-C OTG for pen drives. It launched with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 on Android 15, with multi-user profiles for family sharing and Call Sync, Network Sync and Shared Clipboard when paired with a Xiaomi phone on HyperOS 2.
